The development of this set of urban design principles for a Caring City has two main objectives: on the one hand, it aims to showcase complex ideas such as care, sustainability, or circularity in built urban environments. Furthermore, this set of principles aims to be a tool to facilitate the comprehension of these ideas and stimulate discussions among participants of collaborative design processes in terms of how these principles could be contextualized into their lived urban realities to respond to their specific needs.

The development of these principles was based on previous research and study of engaged urban practices and their concrete strategies to achieve more socially and environmentally just cities.
